We are committed to encouraging students to learn outside the classroom. As part of this commitment we offer continuing professional development sessions to teachers, to help you enhance and develop the skills you need to engage young people with the natural world.

Sessions

Primary school teachers

Whether you would like to look at techniques using nature to raise achievement in literacy, or simple ways to green your school ground, we can help! Sessions can be delivered for organised groups at The LookOut, Hyde Park, our state of the art environmental education centre, or if it's more convenient we can come to your school and deliver a session for teachers there. We also run training sessions for student teachers, showing them how to make the most of outdoor resources.

Secondary school teachers

We offer continuing professional development sessions for secondary science teachers. You can either book onto one of our scheduled training days or book your own session if you have a group of teachers who wish to take part.  Please contact us to make a booking.

Fieldwork without fear

This is a hands-on session in the great outdoors. It aims to help teachers develop, plan and deliver practical outdoor science. We use The LookOut, Hyde Park as a base and discuss how to collect data outdoors, what biotic and abiotic data to collect and the correct use of a wide range of equipment.
